Hi, I’m Sari – and this is how Baby Paper was born
I never set out to create a baby toy. In fact, Baby Paper began with the simplest, most ordinary moment—sitting at a restaurant with my child, watching them play with a paper napkin. Not the food. Not the toys I had packed. Just the napkin.
They crinkled it in their little hands, captivated by the sound and texture. I remember watching them light up with joy—so focused, so calm. But of course, the napkin didn’t last. It tore. It got soggy. And as a parent, I worried—what if it ripped in their mouth? What if they choked?
That night, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. What if I could create something that had the same satisfying crinkle, but was safe, soft, and made just for babies?
So I made it.
I pulled out some soft fabric, layered it with a crinkly material I sourced carefully, and stitched together a small square. It wasn’t fancy. But it was washable, durable, and fit perfectly in little hands. I gave it to my child—and they loved it. Just like the napkin, but better. Safer. Mine.
That little piece of fabric became Baby Paper.
At first, I made a few more and gave them to friends. Then friends of friends asked. Then local shops. And slowly, organically, Baby Paper grew into something real.
Over the years, it’s been amazing to watch this tiny idea grow into a brand that’s trusted by so many families. It’s still rooted in simplicity and sensory play—no screens, no batteries, just a soft, satisfying crinkle that babies love. And that parents can feel good about.
And now, the most full-circle moment of all: my grandchildren are playing with the very product I made for their parents. What started as a small act of love for my own child has become a multigenerational gift—and that means everything to me. Baby Paper has made its way into diaper bags, strollers, car seats, baby showers, and most importantly, into the hands of babies who need comfort, curiosity, and calm.
I’m incredibly grateful for this journey. I created Baby Paper for my own child, and now I get to share it with yours.
With love,
Sari
